Indian Film Actresses 19 - Bollywood and More

Sushmita SenIndian actress Sushmita Sen was born on November 19th, 1975 Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.
Not only is she a popular actress, but she was the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe competition (in 1994).
When Sushmita was eighteen, she won the Femina Miss India pageant (beating "The Most Beautiful Woman in The World", Aishwarya Rai).
She proceeded to represent India at the 1994 Miss Universe Pageant in Manila, Philippines and won.
Using the fame from winning Miss Universe, she entered acting, and made her film debut in the 1996 film, Dastak.
Sushmita went on to appear in over thirty films, and has been nominated for, and won many awards.
She is set to appear in No Problem and Dulha Mil Gaya in 2010.


South Indian actress Swapna was active in the early 1980s and mid 1990s, acting in Tamil, Telugu and Bollywood films.
Swapna got married and left the film industry and is now working with her husband in their project management company, developing festivals, events and conferences abroad.
She made around thirty films, her last being Janam Se Pehle in 1994.


I have mentioned Indian film actress Tabu in many of my Hubs, and what amazes me about her is her ability to go from very plain looking, to wildly exotic with little effort.
Tabu was born on November 4th, 1970 in Hyderabad, India.
Although she mainly acts in Bollywood films, she has also appeared in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali and one American film.
Her aunt ls art house star Shabana Azmi, and she is the sister of Bollywood actress, Farah Naaz.
She made her acting debut at the age of fifteen in the 1985 film Hum Naujawan.
Tabu has gone on to appear in over seventy films.
She has three fims, Toh Baat Pakki, Season's Greetings and The Legend Of Kunal set for 2010 release.
Her Hollywood film was Namesake (2006).
The film got good reviews, and was on several critics top ten lists for 2007.


Tanisha Mukherjee was born on January 1st,1978 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
She is part of the famous Mukherjee-Samarth family, and that makes her related to Rattan Bai (great-grandmother), Sashadhar Mukherjee (her grandfather),Shobhna Samarth (grandmother), Joy Mukherjee and Deb Mukherjee (uncles), Shomu Mukherjee (father), Tanuja (mother), Kajol (sister), Ajay Devgan (brother-in-law), and her cousin is Rani Mukherjee.
And really, she is related to more stars, but I can’t list them all here.
Yes, the family is THAT big.
Tanisha made her acting debut in the 2003 Bollywood film Sssshhh... (Which was loosely based on the Hollywood horror film Scream).

And here is Tanisha and Kajol's mother, Tanuja Samarth.
She was born on September 23rd, 1943 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Of course since Tanuja is part of the Mukherjee-Samarth family, she is related to all the famous Indian cinema stars that Tanisha is.
She started out as Baby Tanuja in the 1950 film Hamari Beti with her older sister Nutan.
Tanuja went on to appear in well over one hundred films and is still acting.
In the upcoming Bollywood film Toonpur Ka Superrhero, she will appear on the screen as Kajol's mother.

Tanushree Dutta was born on March 19th, 1981 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.
In 2004, Tanushree won the Femina Miss India Universe title and used that fame to go into an acting career.
She made her acting debut in the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne.
Besides acting in films, she was an anchor on the2002 Bengali TV show, Hoi Hullod.

Indian film and television actress Tisca Chopra was born on November 1st, 1971 in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh.
Before acting, she studied English Literature at the University of Delhi and participated in amateur theatre groups and college festivals.
Although she made her acting debut at the age of three in a play, she didn’t made her film debut until 1993's Platform.
She went from that, back into plays, and then eventually wound up on TV, appearing in several television short films and TV shows.
Tisca then moved back to film, and her 2007 movie Taare Zameen Par got her not only a Stardust People's Choice for Best Supporting Actress, but also got her nominated for the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award, the Star Screen Award for Best actor in a supporting role, the V. Shantaram Award for Best artist in a supporting role and the Zee Cine Award for Best actor in a supporting role (female).

Indian film actress and model Trisha Krishnan was born on May 4, 1983, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
Trisha attended Ethiraj College for Women, and later went into modeling, winning several beauty pageants.
She made her acting debut in the 1999 Tamil film Jodi, but it was a small role.
Her next film, Lesa Lesa in 2002 got her noticed and she won the ITFA Best New Actress Award.
She has appeared in almost forty Tamil and Telugu films, with six scheduled for 2010 release.
